I am a conscientious objector and did my alternative service in Washington, D.C. Life being what it is, I worked in rural development and with Hmong refugees in Laos 1962-1972, and with Vietnamese refugees in Arkansas and Malaysia 1975-1980. I have worked as a Lao interpreter in Southern California. One flat stone is inscribed “ye keci buddham saranam…” This is the English version of a Buddhist inscription in the religious language Pali, possibly “I seek my refuge in the Buddha…” RTA…Laos possibly stands for ‘Royal Thai Army,’ which, of course, never fought in Laos….! For a Hmong monument, Google “Hmong memorial Sheboygan”
