  1. I was involved in the Feb 16, 1967 battle when our company C went to the aid of A company in Kontum. I was shot and wounded while trying to pull our Co. Cpommander Capt McManus out of the line of fire. He died from his wounds, this was his first time out with us. I laid in the jungle for 14 hours expecting to get overran before a hovering Chinuck pulled me out as I was the last of the 32 wounded to get out of there. Spent 3 months in Hawaii in the Hospital and spent my last year and a half training troops in Ft. Knox, left the army after 3 years as a Staff Sgt. Have not been too successful reaching buddies and the ones I have reached don’t want to talk a bout Vietnam and don’t want to talk to me, I guess they did not recoer as well as I did.
